When created in 1998, it was an opportunity for those who dabbled in haiku and short poetry to get their efforts posted. The Farting Frog is a collection of the haiku that were submitted at that time. Maintenance of The Farting Frog was discontinued shortly after the Thicket of Thorns was put into place, and it now exists as a place of curiosity.
The Thicket of Thorns was installed as soon as the site editors realized how much work it was to maintain The Farting Frog pages. The Thicket of Thorns allows contributors to post their haiku and short poetry directly to the site, and has been very popular over the years.
Howlings is a companion page to the Thicket of Thorns and Writings, a page originally intended for self-posting comments and critiques of the Thicket's contents, but it evolved into a chatty kind of place, sometimes becoming a little rowdy, sometimes controversial.
Writings is a place where you can post longer prose, up to 2000 words.
GrumpyDog is a site intended for open-minded adults. Some of the postings here contain language and ideas that might offend those of you who live sheltered lives. We tend to allow anything here that is not of a malicious or frivolous nature.
